Autonomous process monitoring with ibaInCycle

The Auto-Adapting module can automatically determine reference curves.

Avoid high repair costs, prevent unwanted machine failures, identify defective products quickly: The early detection of process anomalies and wear has enormous benefits for plant operators. However, since the number of process states to be monitored can quickly become very large (for example, with 10 product widths, 10 product thicknesses and 20 different materials, there are already 2,000 possible process states), the manual generation of the corresponding limit value curves is often no longer feasible. With the new product ibaInCycle, iba AG offers a system for autonomous monitoring of cyclic and quasi-cyclic processes in real time. As an add-on to the ibaPDA (Process Data Acquisition) application, ibaInCycle with its auto-adaptation module is able to learn the typical course for different process states - which are freely configurable - and thus to determine limit value curves autonomously. The subsequent monitoring phase, which is based on the product specifications and the determined references, also takes place automatically. Thanks to the Auto-Adapting module, ibaInCycle can constantly adapt to different production states and thus detect the occurrence of machine wear and quality deviations in real time during production. Users are therefore always informed about the system status and the quality of production and are able to react situationally at any time. Thus, damages and failures can be prevented sustainably. Another significant advantage of ibaInCycle is that already existing signals can be used for monitoring and no additional sensor technology is required.

Process monitoring in real time directly at the edge

Since ibaInCycle can also run on an edge device of the ibaDAQ family, monitoring based on the high-resolution raw data is possible exactly where it is generated. The collected measurement data is processed autonomously in the edge device and without the connection to a cloud infrastructure. For further analysis, a drill-down back to the raw data can easily be done from the determined parameters.

Typical fields of application of ibaInCycle are the control of cyclic processes such as engine and gear monitoring, injection molding machines and the monitoring of rotating machines, e.g. to detect wear or damage on saw blades. Furthermore, processes with quasi-cyclical process steps can also be monitored - for example, when operating presses or cranes. The respective steps can be individually configured using start and stop triggers.
